Austria includes Burgenland, Salzburg, Tirol, Lower Austria, Carinthia and Vorarlberg. It also encompasses Upper Austria, Styria and Vienna.

 

Austria has been led by the Romans, Huns, Ostrogoths, Franks, Lombards and Bavarri.

Some of its specific rulers were Charles I, Charles V, Ferdinand, Phillip II, Rudolf II

 

The Austrian Empire was founded during 1806.

 

Charlamagne erected Ostmark sometime in 803. The Thirty Years War started during 1618; it ended with the Treaty of Westphalia.

 

Leopold I opened Vienna up to musicians and composers. Those born in Austria include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Anton Bruckner, Franz-Joseph Haydn and Johan Strauss.

 

Also among the famous people associated with Austria are Christian Doppler, Kurt Godel, Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler.

 

Austria celebrates Shrovetide Carnival, Corpus Christi, the Vienna International Festival, Midsummer Night’s, the Salzburg International Festival, National Day and St. Nicholas Day.
